Only the Stravinsky uses all 8 players this week. The Beethoven is stands 1,3, and 4 – long story as to why the reduction comes from the middle of the section. The Turnage piece is 2 players only.

he's always doing that piece!
I enjoyed Salonen, for the most part. He did a few unusual things, but otherwise his reading was pretty straightforward. That piece can turn into kind of a grotesque bacchanal at the CSO. At least he kept that from happening.
Nobody has matched Boulez IMO.
